Wood Burning Stove Installation Transforms a 1930s Fireplace in Croydon Casa Installation photographs and proven local work
This wood burning stove installation in Croydon transformed a dated 1930s stone fireplace into a clean and attractive feature. Our team completed the project at this East Croydon family home in three days.
The work included a chimney sweep, CCTV inspection and fireplace alterations. We also fitted a flue liner, repaired the chamber, laid new tiles and connected the stove.
Inspecting the Chimney Before Installation
Our team began with a chimney sweep and CCTV flue inspection. This allowed us to examine the chimney before starting the installation work.
The inspection helped us identify the condition of the chimney and plan the correct route for the new flue liner.
Opening the 1930s Fireplace
Next, our installers removed the original stone fire and opened the fireplace to the required dimensions.
The team created a suitable builder’s opening for the new wood burning stove. We then fitted the flue liner through the existing chimney.
Repairing and Rendering the Fireplace Chamber
During the work, our installers discovered a small opening in the chamber’s brickwork that led outside.
The team closed the opening and repaired the surrounding area. We then applied a flexible render inside the chamber to create a secure and even surface.
Tiling the Chamber and Hearth
Our installers tiled the fireplace chamber and laid the new hearth. The tiles gave the old 1930s fireplace a cleaner and more contemporary appearance.
The new finish also created an attractive setting for the stove while retaining the original character of the fireplace.
Connecting the Wood Burning Stove
The team positioned the stove on the completed hearth and connected it to the flue liner.
Our installers sealed the connection and completed the required checks. They then prepared the stove for commissioning.
