Wood Burning Stove Installation in Wimbledon Casa Installation photographs and proven local work
A fireplace transformation with a tiled hearth and marble mantel
This wood burning stove installation in Wimbledon transformed a worn and dated fireplace. CASA removed the old fire and fireplace surround before opening the chimney chamber.
Our installers then added a flue liner, rendered the chamber and laid a tiled hearth. A white marble mantel completed the new fireplace. The finished installation provides a clean focal point that suits the property’s original floorboards.
Removing the Old Fireplace
The project began with the removal of the old fireplace, hearth and gas fire. This exposed the original chimney breast and allowed our team to assess the opening.
Our installers then knocked out the chamber and removed the loose material. They squared off the opening to create the correct proportions for the new stove, hearth and mantel.
The old gas supply had already been disconnected and capped safely near the floor.
Preparing the Chimney and Fitting the Flue Liner
CASA arranged scaffolding to provide safe access to the chimney. Our team then lowered a new flexible flue liner through the chimney and into the fireplace chamber.
The installers cut the liner to the required length. They also fitted the correct adapter to connect it to the stove pipe.
The new liner creates a continuous route between the stove and chimney terminal. It forms an important part of this Wimbledon wood burner installation.
Rendering the Fireplace Chamber
After preparing the chimney, our team applied the first coat of render inside the chamber. This covered the exposed masonry and produced a more consistent surface.
The installers also levelled the chamber base in preparation for the new tiles. Careful preparation at this stage helped the hearth tiles sit evenly.
Our team later completed the internal chamber render to create a clean and durable finish around the stove.
Laying the Tiled Hearth
The tiled hearth adds natural colour and texture to the finished fireplace. Its soft neutral shades complement the white mantel and black stove.
Our installers first positioned the tiles to check the layout, spacing and required cuts. They then continued fitting the tiles across the chamber base and projecting hearth.
The completed hearth creates a defined area around the stove. It also provides a neat transition to the property’s existing wooden floorboards.
Installing the Marble Mantel
The team fitted the two marble mantel legs around the squared fireplace opening. They used a spirit level to check the position of each section.
Next, the installers added the marble frieze above the opening. They then fitted the mantel shelf and carefully cut it into the surrounding wall.
The completed white marble mantel gives the fireplace a balanced and traditional appearance. Its subtle natural veining contrasts with the dark stove.
Connecting the Wood Burning Stove
Once the fireplace preparation had been completed, our installers positioned the wood burning stove on the tiled hearth.
They connected the stove pipe to the adapter and flue liner. The team then completed the final checks before commissioning the appliance.
The stove sits centrally within the opening. The rendered chamber, tiled hearth and marble mantel create a clean frame around it.
