Wood burning stove installation in Beckenham Casa Installation photographs and proven local work
This wood burning stove installation in Beckenham transformed an old fireplace into a clean and practical feature. The project required scaffold access so our installers could reach the chimney safely.
We removed the existing fireplace and opened the original chamber. Our team then squared the opening and fitted a supporting lintel. We also installed a new flue liner, hearths, stove and mantel.
Preparing the Scaffold and Chimney
Before starting the fireplace work, our team erected a scaffold rig outside the property. The scaffold provided safe access to the chimney throughout the installation.
The photographs show the scaffold from several angles. They also demonstrate the preparation required for a complete stove and flue installation.
Removing the Old Fireplace
The property had an existing fireplace that no longer suited the room or the planned stove installation. Our installers carefully removed the old fireplace and exposed the original opening.
Removing the surround gave us access to the chimney breast and fireplace chamber. We could then assess the available space and prepare the opening for the new stove.
Creating the Opening for the Wood Burning Stove
Our team knocked out the chamber and enlarged the fireplace opening. We removed loose material before squaring the sides and top.
A neat, correctly proportioned opening provides enough space around the stove. It also creates a more balanced finished appearance.
We fitted a new lintel above the opening to support the masonry. This allowed us to continue with the chamber preparation and flue work.
Installing the Flue Liner and Pot-Hanging Cowl
Next, we installed the flue liner through the chimney. The scaffold gave our installers direct access to the chimney pot during this stage.
We connected the liner to a pot-hanging cowl at chimney level. The liner created a continuous route between the stove and the top of the chimney.
Our team then prepared the lower end of the liner for its connection to the stove.
Fitting the Hearths
Once we had prepared the chamber, we installed the new hearths. We positioned each section carefully to create a level and stable base.
The hearth extends into the room and defines the completed fireplace area. Its dark finish also complements the black wood burning stove.
Rendering the Chamber and Installing the Mantel
Our installers applied the first coat of render inside the fireplace chamber. This covered the exposed masonry and created a cleaner internal finish.
We then fitted the mantel, slips and header around the opening. These elements framed the chamber and gave the fireplace a more structured appearance.
After completing the render, we checked the chamber, hearth and mantel before installing the stove.
Completing the Stove Installation in Beckenham
Our team positioned the stove centrally on the hearth and connected it to the flue system. We checked the stove, flue pipe and surrounding fireplace before completing the work.
The finished wood burning stove installation in Beckenham combines a traditional mantel with a simple black hearth and stove. The lighter chamber background helps the stove stand out as the room’s main feature.
The final photographs show the completed installation from the front, right and left sides.
